Our Classic French Toast
I love French Toast. I have loved it since my momma made it for me as a kid. After a hiatus in my teens, I rediscovered my love for this amazing dish when I visited a restaurant that served Stuffed French Toast. Unfortunately, Mike doesn’t share my love for this tasty breakfast. So whenever my mom and I have a craving we make sure to do it up right. We’ve learned a few things along the way and have to share our tricks to the perfect Classic French Toast.
Ingredients, Substitutions, and Additions
Bread – Yes, you can use sandwich bread. But, since we don’t get to enjoy our Classic French Toast often, mom and I like to use French bread. If you can find a pre-sliced French bread, even better!
Milk – If you’re fancy, you will want to use heavy cream, half and half, or whole milk. We don’t always have this on hand, so we will just use whatever milk we have on hand.
Eggs – If you don’t use eggs, you’re just gonna end up with soggy toast. Not what we are going for here, so don’t forget the eggs!
Cinnamon and Vanilla – To give our Classic French Toast some flavor, we are going to use some Cinnamon and Vanilla.
Toppings – If you’re like me, you will want some butter and syrup to top your Classic French Toast. Maybe even a little dusting of powdered sugar if you want to be fancy.
