Our Cheesy Smashed Potatoes
Minda and I believe that potatoes are perfect any way they are cooked. One of my favorite ways is our Cheesy Smashed Potatoes. This recipe is super easy and everyone at our table always wants seconds. We first heard about smashed potatoes years ago after seeing it on social media. I knew that I had to try my hand at smashed potatoes. I always go crazy with seasonings and extras, but I tried to keep things a little simpler this time. Our Cheesy Smashed Potatoes are a quick and easy side dish you can enjoy any night.
Ingredients, Substitutions, and Additions
Potatoes – Minda and I use a combo of red and Yukon gold baby potatoes. These potatoes hold up the best and are easy to find at the grocery store.
Tip – Minda and I have made the mistake of forgetting the non-stick spray and have paid the price with the dish gods. Use foil and non-stick spray together for easy cleanup.
Cheese – We go with a combination of cheddar and parmesan cheeses in these Cheesy Smashed Potatoes. It gives us a great flavor and a nice crust around the outside. If you want a little more heat, use some pepper jack. Some smoked Gouda is another great option for great flavor.
Seasonings – You can season these any way you want. Our base seasoning is Granulated Onion and Garlic, Salt, and Pepper. However, we have been known to add some thyme, rosemary, or oregano. If you are anything like me and enjoy spicy add some Red Pepper for the perfect kick.
