Our Savory Crock-Pot Beef Stew
Any time I get to pull out the Crock-Pot I am a happy man. Nothing beats throwing all your ingredients into a single pot then setting the temperature and walking away. I love Beef Stew, but when we were younger Minda would only eat the broth with some buttered bread. With so many ways to cook and combinations of veggies and herbs that can go into a Beef Stew I knew that I could make something Minda would love.
A Crock-Pot is the perfect way make Beef Stew and helped make my job easy. Our Savory Crock-Pot Beef Stew is a meal Minda and I Love and is always easy must have when you need a winner for dinner.

Ingredients, Substitutions, and Additions
Beef – Beef stew meat is perfect for use in our Savory Crock-Pot Beef Stew. Minda and I love anything that makes our job easier. Just make sure to look through the meat because sometimes it might have some fatty pieces or tough cartilage. If you have a little extra time trim up a chuck roast. This way you get to determine the size of meat going into the stew.
Veggies and Herbs – Any veggie you like is perfect in your stew. I like to go traditional: Onion, Potatoes, Carrots, and Celery. Garlic is perfect to help deepen the flavor. Our son and I love Mushrooms, so we add them 30 minutes before the stew is done and nothing beats some fresh parsley on top of a big bowl of our Savory Crock-Pot Beef Stew.
Red Wine – Use a red wine that you would drink. Minda and I love 14 Hands Hot to Trot Red Blend.
Dry Seasonings – Use what you like. I use Thyme, Rosemary, Sage, Garlic, Onion, Oregano and Bay Leaves to season the broth and Salt and Pepper for the beef.
Flavor Enhancers – Add some Worcestershire sauce, Balsamic vinegar and Tomato paste to bring your flavor to a 10.
Helpful Tips...
Sear your beef before you put it into the Crock-Pot. This step is not necessary but the amount of flavor it will bring to your stew is a must.
- Sear your meat in two portions to prevent overcrowding of your pan.
After searing your beef, deglaze the pan. This is the perfect time to add your flavor enhancers, garlic, dry seasonings, and red wine. It helps all these ingredients to fully incorporate.
Add mushrooms into the Crock-Pot 30 minutes before you serve. This will allow the mushrooms time to cook but not overcook and become mushy.
