Our Oven Cooked Pulled Pork

Nothing beats an easy weekday dinner. Minda and I love making our week easier by meal prepping different items over the weekend. When we meal prep for dinners, we try making food that can be used in multiple ways. One of our favorite things to meal prep is pulled pork. Our Oven Cooked Pulled Pork is seasoned for versatility and is perfect for dinners like quesadillas, sandwiches, and tacos. Our Oven Cooked Pulled is amazing and will always hit the spot.

Ingredients, Substitutions, and Additions

Pork – We use whatever cut of meat is on sale whether it is the butt or shoulder. Each cut needs to be slow cooked so they both work perfect for pulled pork. When they are on sale where we live, we can sometimes get them for a little over a dollar a pound.

Liquids – When slow cooking your pork you do not want to dry it out. I use a combo of apple juice and apple cider vinegar. This will help keep your pork moist throughout the cooking process. Minda and I will also use different flavors if we are making pulled pork for a specific meal. Try using your favorite cola if you are going to be using the pulled pork for BBQ sandwiches.

Dry Seasonings – When Minda and I are making our Oven Cooked Pulled Pork for meal prep we like to use seasonings that we use in all our meals to maximize how many different meals we can make for the week. Onion and garlic are a must because they are amazing. Cumin, paprika, oregano, salt and pepper are always good choices because they go great with several different food styles.

Veggies – We use an diced onion to add additional flavor to our pulled pork. It is also works great when deglazing your pot after searing your pork.
