Our Mouthwatering Meatball Subs

One of Minda’s favorite dinners is our Mouthwatering Meatball Subs. She would eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if she could. For the longest time we would get them from our favorite sandwich spot and then out of nowhere they closed up shop. This turned into a problem because she got our son on board with Meatball Subs. Minda and our son tag teamed me and now we have to keep a batch of our Perfect Turkey Meatballs on had to satisfy their cravings for our Mouthwatering Meatball Subs.

Ingredients, Substitutions, and Additions

Meatballs – You can’t have a Mouthwatering Meatball Sub without meatballs. Minda, our son, and I always have some of our Perfect Turkey Meatballs in the freezer ready for some Mouthwatering Meatball Subs. When we don’t have any Perfect Turkey Meatballs we use frozen meatballs from our local grocery store.

Rolls – Rolls are almost as important as the meatballs. We have used plenty of different types of rolls. From hoagie rolls to baguettes all work and are great bases for our Mouthwatering Meatball Subs. Minda and our son are enjoying the bag of sandwich rolls from our local club store.

Sauce – Use your favorite marinara when crafting your Mouthwatering Meatball Subs. Minda and I will sometimes get an extra jar and dip our Mouthwatering Meatball Subs.

Cheese – Minda and I think cheese is a must on our Mouthwatering Meatball Subs. Mozzarella is a great option, but we also like using Havarti and Munster because they both melt great. We like to use shredded cheeses because they melt quicker and sometimes we are impatient.

Preferred Pairings for Mouthwatering Meatball Subs

Ready to eat Mouthwatering Meatball Subs

Ingredients for Mouthwatering Meatball Subs

  • 20 Perfect Turkey Meatballs
  • 4 Hoagie Rolls
  • 1 20 oz jar Marinara Sauce
  • 4 oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Directions

Preheat oven and cook Turkey Meatballs: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a sauce pan add marinara and Perfect Turkey Meatballs then cook over medium high heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until the Perfect Turkey Meatballs are heated fully. Stir constantly to prevent burning. Remove from heat and set aside. 

Slice Hoagie Rolls and Toast: Use a bread knife to half rolls. Place on a foiled cookie sheet and toast for 5 to 7 minutes or until the rolls become golden brown. Remove from oven.

Prepare Meatball Subs and Bake: Evenly spread sauce onto the cut side of the rolls. Place 5 Perfect Turkey Meatballs on each bottom half of roll. Spread mozzarella cheese on the top half of rolls and place into the oven for 4 to 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted. 

Serve and enjoy: Place the top half of rolls, mozzarella side down, on top of the meatballs. Plate Mouthwatering Meatball Sub onto a plate and enjoy.
