Ingredients, Substitutions, and Additions

Beef Bouillon – We always have Chicken, Beef and Tomato Bouillon on hand. Bouillon is an awesome item to have in your pantry. It will help enhance the flavor of your recipes. If you do not have any Beef Bouillon on hand beef broth is a great alternative. Just substitute the water for beef broth.

Jasmine Rice – Minda and I love jasmine rice and it pair perfectly with the oniony flavor from our Cheesy French Onion Rice, but any long grain rice will do.

Lipton Onion Soup & Dip Mix – We love this packet of tasty goodness. It can be used in so many ways and adds tons of flavor to whatever you’re making.

Unsalted Butter – The key to this dish is the butter. You want just enough to offer a creamy buttery flavor, but not so much that it turns out greasy. Half of a stick is the perfect amount for this recipe. You also want to make sure to use UNSALTED butter.
Minda and I have used salted butter before by accident and we found out there’s enough salt in the recipe without adding more to it.

Cheese – We love this dish with Mozzarella or Provolone…sometimes a combo of both.
We like to switch it up a bit by using an Italian blend or Havarti and Smoked Gouda. However, any good melty cheese will do.
