Deviled eggs are the perfect holiday appetizer or potluck item. Come with us as we test new flavor combinations in our Test Kitchen Spicy Deviled Eggs.
Our Test Kitchen Spicy Deviled Eggs
With another holiday right around the corner Mike and I thought this would be the perfect time to have another deviled egg Test Kitchen. We had so much fun with the last deviled eggs we just couldn’t wait to try them again. This time let’s spice things up and see if we can come up with a new flavor combination to rival our current go-to. Keeping spice in mind, we went with ingredients like pickled jalapeños, buffalo sauce, hot salsa and pepperoncini.
What is Mike & Minda's Test Kitchen?
If you haven’t seen our Test Kitchen before, this is where Mike and I take traditionally favorite foods and remake them in a way that we may not typically do. The hope is that we will discover a new take on an old recipe that blows all others out of the water and maybe inspires others to get a little creative in the kitchen. My personal favorite Test Kitchen’s centered around Baked Potatoes. Check them, as well as all our other Test Kitchens out using the links below.
Previous Deviled Egg Winner
Our last Test Kitchen we had a very clear winner with our Zippy Bell Pepper Deviled Egg. Not only was it our winner, but every time we’ve made deviled eggs since, Zippy Bell Pepper is our go-to deviled egg. Check out the full recipe below.
Deviled eggs are the perfect thing to bring for potluck or BBQ. Try this Zippy Bell Pepper Deviled Egg for something new and delicious.
Twisted Traditional Deviled Egg
This deviled egg combo is loosely based on a traditional deviled egg but we gave it a kick by adding some pickled jalapeños to the recipe. Going into this one I wasn’t too sure of this one since I’m not big on pickled jalapeños. But Mike was so excited we knew we just had to give it a try. To my utter shock, this was not only my favorite but the family favorite as well. This recipe included: Egg Yolk, Pickled Jalapeño, Pickled Jalapeño Juice, and Diced Onion.
Feedback:
- Has some spiciness but not to overpowering
- Great flavor, perfect spiciness
- Love it. Not to hot not to zippy just right

Pineapple Pepperoncini Deviled Egg
Since we were already making a deviled egg with pickled jalapeños, Mike’s brain automatically went to Pepperoncini when trying to decide what other flavors to use. I’m not sure why, other than we had them on hand, Mike wanted to add Crushed Pineapple to this one but after trying it, I wasn’t complaining. This recipe included: Egg Yolk, Pepperoncini, Pepperoncini Juice, Red Bell Pepper, and Crushed Pineapple.
Feedback:
- Zippy but not spicy
- Good flavors but needs toppings to add crunch
- Love the zippiness but need more heat
Spicy BBQ Deviled Egg
Now not everyone thinks “spicy” when they think of BBQ sauce. But my momma is very sensitive to spicy and BBQ sauce is one thing that can send her mouth up in flames. Grabbing some inspiration from one of our favorite pizzas, BBQ Chicken and Pineapple, we decided to pair the BBQ sauce with some Crushed Pineapple, and add some Red Pepper Flakes for some added heat. In the end, this one wasn’t for us. This recipe includes: Egg Yolk, BBQ Sauce, Crushed Pineapple, and Red Pepper Flakes.
Feedback:
- To sweet
- Don’t like the texture
- Not the best flavor
Buffalo Chicken Deviled Egg
Mike loves Buffalo Sauce! We had to give it a try in these Spicy Deviled Eggs and why not add some shredded chicken to the mixture? Now, this was great in theory…not so much when it came down to the taste test. This recipe includes: Egg Yolk, Buffalo Sauce, French Fried Onions, Shredded Chicken, and Green Onion.
Feedback:
- Not a fan
- Missing something
- Could be better
Spicy Salsa Deviled Egg
I love a hot salsa. It just made sense to add some salsa in our Spicy Deviled Eggs. Well, it made sense at the time. Looking back this maybe wasn’t the best flavor for a deviled egg. This recipe includes: Egg Yolk, Hot Salsa, and Crushed Tortilla Chips.
Feedback:
- Only tastes like salsa
- Chip provides a good crunch
- Not spicy enough
